Please send my thanks to all the Sooke Harbour House staff for their service. The food was absolutely delicious and beautiful, and the dining room was absolutely breath taking. I appreciated all the small touches you added, such as bringing my favourite little mechanical crab in the room.

I had managed to keep the Sooke Harbour House reception a surprise from my mother, who was brought to tears upon walking into your beautiful house!
I couldn’t have asked for a more perfect day.

We loved our room (#4) and hope to be back next year to celebrate our anniversary in the same room!

We can’t thank you enough.  Please let the kitchen and the staff know how pleased we are.  Our guests came from all over the country (and other parts of the world) and they commented that it was one of the nicest weddings they had been to.

The entire day was filled with personalized touches. Their heartfelt vows were followed by a short paddle to Whiffen Spit in a canoe Ellery made himself. If that’s not a personal touch, I’m not sure what is. It was a surprise for their guests and it was so romantic!

At the reception in the Summer Pavilion, guests signed a guestbook made by Chari which was full of photos of their adventures all over the world… and at dinner, guests were asked to write Haiku poems for the couple. Chari & Ellery had an amazing time, danced the night away, and most importantly they created memories of a perfect celebration with family and friends.

In search of new and exciting features and adventures, our team when out on a test to see if this fantastic activity would be suitable for a wedding.
Ziplining… sounds fun, right? Well just to be certain how fun and how practical it will be for a bride, we put together a test team of Amanda Wiley – our test bride, Maria Kaltio – Sooke Harbour House event coordinator and Andrei Fedorov local Victoria and Sooke wedding photographer together with our guides from Adrenaline Zipline to experience this first hand.

We took a short ride in an ATV to the beginning of the course, got strapped and harnessed and…

Once you take the first one, you are commited, there is no turning back! You can only zip forward. A very suitable illustration for the event, isn’t it?

A little side note to brides who may consider this adventure: The harness goes around both legs and your waist, so the dress may not work, or you may need a wrap around skirt to wear over top of the harness. Pants work best, of course, well this is a new thing, so we are all open to possibilities and creative solutions. Same goes for the bridesmades. For the groom and groomsmen this works perfectly fine. There is no dust or dirt so you dont have to worry about your suit other than may be a few wrinkles from the harness.

Andrei Fedorov, our photographer, was glad to attend as our trial run has revealed some photographic challenges a photographer may face in these conditions. Mainly ever changing light and shadows, fast moving objects and the equipment required to best capture this fun adventure.

We will continue to develop this great concept of wedding day adventure. So far everyone is pleased with the results.

Adrenaline Zipline is very close to Sooke Harbour House, only 10
minutes away.  The whole course took us an hour to complete with generous stops in between.
